Data Theft: NASA

In 2008 it was announced that NASA was the victim of hackers in 2005. The hackers, allegedly gained access to data data about the space shuttle.

It has been stated that in April 2005 hackers accessed NASA’s famous space center in Florida – Kennedy Space Center .

In April, when the hackers obtained access to the NASA network it is believed that a program called “Stame.exe” was installed on the NASA computers.

Stame.exe was then used to collect information about the shuttle and send it back to the hackers, which were based in Taiwan.

Taiwan has, of course, close links to the to China (willingly or otherwise!).

This news was released at the same time as news of the Congress report is into the dubious activities of China is released. Coincidence? Propaganda against China? Or a demonstration of the real threat of China’s information warfare capacity?
